Cllr Chris Sadler gives more to Walton

As you will all be aware Chris Sadler has been Leader of the Residents Associations Group for more than five years. Chris has managed this responsibility which takes many hours of hard work in preparing for and attending many meetings, all with the main aim of protecting the interests of the residents of Elmbridge whilst supporting and working with the Independent Councillors in the Association.

Below is a press release sent to all of the local press:

The Residents’ Associations Group on Elmbridge Borough Council has today announced that Cllr Stuart Selleck ( Molesey North) will take over the leadership of the Group from Cllr Chris Sadler (Walton Central ) with effect from July 1st.

Chris Sadler has  been Leader of the Residents’ Associations Group since May 2006 and commented that he is standing down in order to devote more time to local issues in Walton. He added, “Changes to parking arrangements in Walton, most notably plans by Surrey County Council to bring in on-street car parking charges, the issues around the future use of Council owned assets such as the former Walton Library, now empty for over 3 years, the Walton Playhouse, and the former Walton Swimming Pool site, and many other local planning issues are likely to demand more time and attention than I would realistically be able to devote to them if I continued as Group Leader. In addition, I feel that it is sensible for the leadership of any group to be refreshed from time to time.”

Stuart Selleck has represented Molesey North as a Molesey Residents Association Councillor since May 2006 and was re-elected in May last year with a clear majority of over 1500 votes. He is a member of the Audit and Standards Committee, the Planning Committee and the North Area Planning Sub-Committee. His nomination as Leader of the Residents’ Associations Group on the Council was unopposed and he has the enthusiastic support of all members of the group as he takes on this new role.

On behalf of The Walton Society we congratulate and thank Chris for all of the hard work and time very well spent in the last five years, selfishly we are very pleased to be able to take advantage of Chris spending more time working with and for the residents of Walton.
