Road Closures
An article by walton-site-admin
Comments Off Many people will be aware that Ashley Park Avenue was closed for several weeks in November. The reason given for this closure was for a Developer to make a sewer connection. The closure began on the same date as similar work was carried out at both ends of Oatlands Avenue and was timed to coincide with the Schools Half Term break and was finished within the week. However, the Ashley Park Avenue closure lasted for over three weeks and it appeared that the road way was being used as a builder’s yard for at least two weeks which was not the purpose of the closure order. This road is an important link between the Station and the Town and taxi journeys were more costly for the duration. I took the matter up with Surrey Highways and have been given an assurance that they will endeavour to mange similar situations more effectively in the future. Please let us know if similar problems occur elsewhere in the town.
