Another road closure………

The High Street is being closed during the summer holidays

The following information was sent to us by Thames Water.

Replacement of Surface Water Sewer- Walton on Thames High Street

We wanted to provide you with advance notice that we are planning to undertake necessary repair work to replace a damaged surface water sewer under Walton on Thames High Street over the school holiday period this summer.

You may be aware that we undertook some survey work in March and the information gathered from the surveys is helping us plan the main work to replace the surface water sewer.  We are working with Surrey County Council highway teams to agree a road closure and traffic management plan for the duration of works.  We are planning to start work in August and the work will take approximately 6 weeks. Unfortunately due to the surface water sewer being located in the centre of the road, the high street will need to be closed to vehicles whilst we undertake our work and diversions will be in place.  We are still working with the highway teams to finalise our plans and I will update you once our plans have been confirmed. We are also speaking with local businesses to make them aware of the work and to make sure we have arrangements in place for deliveries to minimise the impact of our work.

We are working hard to make sure our necessary repair work causes as little disruption as possible to the local area. Once our repair plans have been finalised, we will be writing to residents in the immediate areas and holding a public  information session before we start any work to inform local residents. If there are any residents groups you think it would be useful for us to engage with once the programme for our work is finalised please do let me know. In the meantime, I will keep you updated with this work and we would be happy to meet with you if you have any questions or would like any further information.
