A bridge so far……

Outline timetable for Walton Bridge

Many people are questioning when will work on the new Walton Bridge start, well believe it or not it has!

Following the Government’s announcement in December 2010 that the project may proceed, the advance construction works are now underway.

The full programme for the project is currently being drawn up, but the key dates are:

29 December 2010 – Government announces full approval for the project.

31 January 2011 – Advance construction works start.

May 2011 – Archaeological investigation starts.

January 2012 – Main construction works start.

June 2013 – New bridge completed and brought into use.

July 2013 – Demolition of existing bridges commences, followed by final landscaping works.

March 2014 – Works completed.

It will be very interesting to follow the progress on this long awaited project, there will be frequent updates here on the website as well as photographs so that you can see exactly what is happening and when.

Lets just hope that the timetable is maintained.
